Based on paper marbling, also called suminagashi (Liquid Ink) in Japan, a process where a vessel of water is mixed with ink that floats on top of the water, and then a print is made from paper that is placed on the surface and soaks the ink in the pattern that is now made in the surface of the water – this project explores the relationship between traditional craftsmanship and modern methods of artistic expression in relation to the medium of photography. Neo-anthropocene landscapes meet dark abstractions in a tactile clash that questions traditional notions of photography.
